CSAOHN Summer Letter

A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand. Is not the mountain far more awe-inspiring and more clearly visible to one passing through the valley than to those who inhabit the mountain?

Greetings,

IT’S HERE!!! It’s time to register for our Annual Conference. The committee has been hard at work to put together, what I think is a fun, dynamic, different program. This year most all of the pre-conference is on physical assessment. Whether you are an LVN, RN, NP, PA, or MD….there will be something new to learn. Thank you to the Nurse Practitioner Instructors from UCSF for helping put this together. We will be offering CEU’s and CCM credits, so please register today!
Traditionally we have had a Friday night bonus activity, and we are offering that again. The difference is that the activity will be at the Hotel instead of off site. We did this to keep the cost down. As you know in Walnut Creek and the San Francisco Area…it’s not inexpensive. So I hope you will come out and support our Friday night offering, as the food will be absolutely scrumptious, good friends, laughter, and learn something! The speaker that night will be talking about “Say Yes to the Pause”. Something we can all benefit from learning how to use more affectively.

Pam Dannenberg has been an inspirational leader in Governmental Affairs. Because of her efforts, CSAOHN has been represented at two OSHA advisory committee meetings. One for the recommended changes to first aid kits and the other on revising the lead standard. CSAOHN has also continued to work with WOEMA on occupational and environmental issues (Please see GA posting for more information).

This year we have been diligently transferring our paper records into electronic format, which should be completed by our October Business meeting! Besides the dust, it’s apparent we nurses love 3 ring binders, paperclips and staples! It’s been fun looking through all of the older correspondence, and with the records being electronic; sharing will be much easier with all the different California chapters.

It’s that time of year…Enjoy the summer and please consider volunteering for a Board Position. I really enjoy being part of the State Board, and know you will too. If you are interested in helping we have several open positions and could use the help! Please e-mail or call: Sharon Weissinger at 626-827-2014.

See you in October!

Julie
