Methyl Iodide Concern

Message from Pam Dannenberg, CSAOHN Govt Affairs (GA) Liaison
For 2009 and 2010 we have been trying to get a handle on following regulatory and legislative Affairs. We
have a chapter representative for each of the CSAOHN chapters to spread the news at each chapter and get emails out quickly when we are seeking input on various issues. We appreciate these representatives as well as the chapter presidents, CSAOHN board members and others who have been attending various hearings and advisory committee meetings, gathering and disseminating information, and stepping up to the plate with suggestions and letters, emails, and phone calls to make the opinions of OHNs known to our legislators and various other people in power. Read more here.

An Airborne Transmissible Disease Standard was just passed in May and the url to learn more about this standard is:

We understand this standard becomes effective in September 2009.

COEH plans to include a course on the “Prevention of Aerosolized Infectious Diseases” in their summer educational offerings on July 27-28. For more information go to:

Legislative / Regulatory Affairs by Pam Dannenberg

I am trying to get a handle on all the legislative and regulatory processes and the bills and standards that are currently under review and/or being proposed for our areas of interest in Environmental and Occupational Health Nursing. It is a daunting job. And yet I see my job on the CSAOHN Board as being one of facilitating understanding and updating you on issues of importance that affect our employees and our work. A good website for helping with this is:http://www.dir.ca.gov/dosh/DoshReg/advisory_committee.html
